If you opt for a taxi, remember to ask the driver to stop before the car park, in the straight line that leads to the Château. This will save you a few euros and time - traffic jams are frequent as the car park is usually full. Important: As the town of Versailles is not part of the Paris taxi catchment area, taxis sometimes refuse the fare because they have to make the return journey empty on a route where traffic jams are frequent. The shuttle service avoids this problem - it is also available at a fixed price and is often advantageous for small groups of more than 4 people.
